BSIS will not discuss your application status with anyone but you. Below are the steps you can follow to know your update.

If you receive a letter or e-mail from BSIS stating discrepancies with your application, FIRST get a hold of Defense Academy so the errors can be corrected and submitted on the first reply.

Step 2 - Know your background status BEFORE calling BSIS.

Online: Check the Status of Your Live Scan: After completing the Live Scan, you can check on the status by visiting https://applicantstatus.doj.ca.gov/. Please note that you must have your ATI number and date of birth to check on the status. To avoid longer wait times, contact the Bureau only if the DOJ’s website states, “California/FBI responses were sent to the agency,” but you have not yet received your license in the mail.

-Call 916-227-4557

-Enter ATI No. from the fourth box on Live Scan Form

-Enter your Date of Birth

-If you hear BOTH dates, you are CLEAR for FBI and DOJ

-If you hear only one date or "Still Processing", you are NOT cleared. Call back next week.
